Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Water Resources & Sanitation

 

Aliyu Shehu Shinkafi was born on 22nd of July, 1964 in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State. He holds a B.Sc in Agricultural Economics from Ahmadu Bello University in 1989 and a Masters in Business Administration from Usman Fodio University in 1996 and a fellow of the Association of National Accountants.
After his youth service in Ekpoma, Edo State, he worked with Sokoto Farmers Agricultural Supply Company in 1990, where he remained till the creation of Zamfara State in 1996. He became the pioneer Financial Controller of Zamfara Agricultural Supply Company in the same year.

In 1997 he transferred his services to the Federal Civil Service in the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation to pilot the implementation of computerization of the Federation Account.
In the course of his career in the Federal Civil Service, Aliyu Shehu Shinkafi worked in different MDAs, including the Presidency, Transport, Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Foreign Affairs (Embassy of Nigeria Brussels, Belgium), Health and Federal Fire Service.

On the 30th of September, 2020, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR appointed him as Permanent Secretary of the Federal Republic and was posted to the Ministry of Finance as Permanent Secretary, Special Duties. In July, 2022, Aliyu Shehu Shinkafi was deployed to Ministry of Women Affairs where he worked till May 2023 when he was moved to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation as Permanent Secretary, Special Services Office. The recent redeployment of Permanent Secretaries in the Federal Civil Service took away Aliyu Shehu Shinkafi from Special Services Office to the Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation where he is currently.
