BABARINDE SEGUN MUKAILA

Babarinde Segun Mukaila started his career with the Federal Civil Service when he was employed and deployed to the Federal Ministry of Water Resources as a Hydrologist in 1993 and grew through the ranks until 2021 when he became a substantive Director, GL17.

Work Experience

A trained Geo-Hydrologist, Agro-climatologist, Climate Change Expert as well as an Isotope Hydrologist and had been involved in many National and International projects over the years. Furthermore, he had served as Member of the Governing Board of many Government Agencies.

Mr. Babarinde S.M. was previously the Head of Climate Change Unit at the Federal Ministry of Water Resources from 2010 to 2020, charged with the responsibility of mainstreaming climate change issues into the water sector, and had been part of the Nigerian Delegation to many United Nations Framework Convention Climate Change- Conference of Parties meetings (UNFCCC-COP).

During the period under review, he participated in many projects including the Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management (NEWMAP), Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL), Green Bond activities involving reduction in the Carbon footprint in the water sector. He was formerly Director Water Resources Planning & Technical Support Services, later Director Hydrology and presently Director Water Supply & Support Services in the Ministry.
